Huge win for composers!

On Jan 24, 2020, we were informed by our US colleagues at the PMA (Production Music Association) and at the SCL (Society of Composers and Lyricists) that Discovery Networks will not be insisting on buyout agreements, and will return, and remain on the traditional “PRO model”.

For more information please read the article published in Variety here.

Whilst we believe this is good news, we will remain on high alert around this issue, both in regards to Discovery Networks as well as other streaming platforms and broadcasters both in Australia and globally.

Please inform the AGSC if an agreement of this nature including the words “work for hire”, “buyout” or “direct licence” come up in any of your contracts.

Stay tuned for more information on the nature and conditions of these types of agreements coming soon to directly to you, and our website!
